It is an online server that lets you play chess with people all over the World in real time.

Current Status:

I am just about done adding this round of modifications to BeChess. Once the plugin architecture is released I will put BeChess on the back shelf for a while. With the plugin architecture people can do pretty much anything they want. The one thing BeChess really needs at the moment is a new chess board. One that does takebacks, move history, save/replay games, is BeOS scriptable, etc. This could all be done via a plugin. But I don't have any intention of working on this within the next six months.

Basic ICC Features:

It will play games, resume adjourned games, and observe games.
Full copy and paste support. Paste or type in any window and the text is forwarded to the console.
Coloured text on the console. Shouts are red, tells are teal, etc.
Replaceable chess board and pieces. The chess board graphics are external. Feel free to customize them as you see fit. Send me anything you come up with!
The chess board is independent of ICC. You can pop one up and study any time.
Right click on chess board to flip, etc.

How much does it cost?

One email. I get all of my gratification from knowing that people use my software. I used to be a master level tournament chess player, but I don't play any more. Why did I write this then? So that other people could enjoy ICC without booting into the evil empire.

Really, I am ecstatic every time I hear someone is using my software. You'd really make my day if you'd take 20 seconds to email me.

Why isn't it available for PPC?

'Cause I haven't figured out how to use the cross-compiler yet! Drop me a line (with instructions :) and I'll provide a PPC version.
